Top “Celebrity Row” Moments So Far This WNBA Season
We are about a month into the 2025 WNBA season, and to say that the stars are out is an understatement. It's become clear that courtside seats are the hottest ticket in town, with celebrity sightings becoming as much a part of the game experience as the on-court action itself. If you’re still debating attending a game, hopefully, these sightings will convince you!
The Golden State Warriors
The Valkyries have done a great job of garnering interest in their first year as a franchise, currently leading the league in attendance. They might also be taking the crown in attendance by NBA players, as the majority of the Golden State Warriors team has shown their support over the past month. It’s great to see these VIPs show up, but having them attend game after game, rather than just a one-time event, goes to show the longevity in viewership that the league has achieved.
Fifth Harmony
WNBA games are now home to some great family reunions. Ally Brooke, Dinah Jane, and Lauren Jauregui from Fifth Harmony met up for a night out at an LA Sparks game, and the pop culture girlies lost their mind! Not only did the ladies get together, but they also made sure to rock the matching leather jackets.
They’re not the only stars we’ve seen at Sparks games so far. Jordan Chiles, Tobin Heath, Christen Press, Leslie Jones, Storm Reid, Terance Mann, and Kyrie Irving are only some of the VIPs who have already made it to a game!
Hezly Rivera
The list continues to grow! Olympic champion and LSU gymnastics commit Hezly Rivera made her way to College Park Center to watch the Dallas Wings as they took on the Chicago Sky. We see you rocking the Olympic Rings necklace, girl!
Ari Lennox
We’re so glad that artist Ari Lennox decided to “Stop By” as the Atlanta Dream faced the Indiana Fever at home! She’s not the only musician who has made their way to Gateway Center Arena. The Dream has featured impressive halftime performances by artists such as Dondria and Lloyd, with many more to come!
Sue Bird & Megan Rapinoe
Of course, any discussion of celebrity sightings isn't complete without Sue Bird and Megan Rapinoe. You can usually catch this superstar couple courtside at many different arenas, and fun fact: they're Liberty season ticket holders. Just don't ask Sue about her team allegiance; she'll tell you those are “technically Megan's tickets.”
The Impact of “CeLiberty Row”
While celebrity attendance has reached an all-time high in the WNBA, perhaps no team has amplified this accomplishment quite like the New York Liberty, who even coined the nickname "CeLiberty Row" specifically to recognize their famous courtside fans and also turn it into a fun guessing game for the rest of the crowd! If the team’s 9-0 record isn’t enticing enough, maybe some of these guest star appearances are.
Elliot Page
If you were at a Liberty game last season, you might have seen actor Elliot Page make an appearance, where he was showered with love. Well, he’s back and got even more love as the Liberty faced the Sky. It’s safe to say that he’s a fan favorite amongst the Barclays Center crowd!
Karlie Kloss
Not only did Karlie Kloss show up in style, but she’s now a Liberty Loyal! It was recently announced that the Liberty has reached a net worth of $450 million, making it the most valuable team in women’s professional sports, and she is now one of their newest investors. Kloss has always been an advocate for gender equality and is well-known for her program, “Koding with Klossy,” which provides women and non-binary youth with lessons on computer science to teach them about careers in tech. She’s kept her word with this newest investment in the Liberty, and we can’t wait to see her at more games!
Jackie Chan
What better way to spend your first WNBA game than in the “City of Dreams”? The icon himself, Jackie Chan, was seated courtside as the Liberty faced the Golden State Valkyries to celebrate the release of “Karate Kid: Legends.” The crowd was already on their feet to celebrate the release of Natasha Cloud’s SLAM cover, but Jackie’s appearance was a surprise! Sab and Tash made sure to brush off their karate skills to show him!
Witnessing the growth of the WNBA over the past few seasons has been nothing short of remarkable, and the increasing frequency of celebrity sightings courtside is a shining indicator of its success. Seeing our favorite public figures while enjoying an entertaining game is an undeniably amazing experience, and the impact of this support on a larger scale underscores why we need to continue investing in women’s sports.
