Tate McRae is the pop princess of our generation. She’s topping charts with her addictive songs and commanding the stage with insane dance moves – we “Just Keep Watching” her rise in the industry. But did you know she has a sporty side?
It turns out Tate has a history of paying homage to sports through multiple aspects of her career. Showing us that fashion, music, art, and sports are all interconnected. Whether it’s rocking Adidas during a tour or incorporating a hockey theme in her sophomore album, Think Later, Tate is without a doubt a sports girl.
Growing up in Canada, hockey was extremely important to Tate’s family, so she wanted to represent that in her unique way.
For the album, Tate wore hockey goalie attire in the cover art, rocked jerseys and a single hockey glove throughout the tour, and dedicated a song to Calgary, her hometown in Canada, which has a rich hockey history. She even featured a rink in her “Greedy” music video where she got to drive a Zamboni.
“We were talking about how when you do music videos, you can check things off your bucket list, and I was like, ‘You know, it would be so insane if I came in on a Zamboni. That would be bucket list”
She even got the chance to hit the ice herself to perform at an NHL All-Star Game in Toronto and serve as a celebrity captain.

Now, Tate’s shifting gears and making a name for herself in the world of F1. She debuted her new album, So Close To What, in February, where two of her lead singles, “Sports Car” and “2 Hands,” embrace racing themes that set the tone for the rest of the album. In the music video for “2 Hands,” Tate sported a racing suit that matched a vibrant orange McLaren. While the sports car was a great touch, she was definitely the star of the show!
It’s full speed ahead as other aspects of the album and current tour are a tribute to racing. We love a girl who can pick a theme and stick with it!

This week marks the premiere of Brad Pitt’s F1 movie, about Sonny Hayes’ return to Formula 1 30 years after a near career-ending accident. Tate's song, “Just Keep Watching,” will be featured in the movie as well as F1 The Album.
The song captures the electric thrill of speed, seduction, and spotlight, aligning perfectly with everything Formula 1 stands for
