While many people may not be aware that America has a professional women’s tackle football league, it has been playing since 2019 and is bigger and better than ever. Women’s sports continue to gain traction and attract fans worldwide.

The Women’s National Football Conference (or WNFC) has 17 teams across three conferences (Pacific, Central, and Atlantic) and starts competitive play in early spring - perfect timing for when the NFL and College Football is over and you’re craving the feeling of an exciting football season. With the popularity of flag football in the U.S. and a long history of girls and women wanting to play tackle football at the next level, the WNFC has been on the rise since its first season in 2019, offering a genuine option for women to pursue a professional career in tackle football.

If you’ve never heard of the WNFC before and are asking yourself, 'Which WNFC team should I root for?' we want to help you out and let you know which team you might like best based on your favorite Taylor Swift Era. Taylor has made her mark on the National Football League alongside her Kansas City Chiefs boyfriend, Travis Kelce, so who could be better to help you get connected with women’s football? Whether you’re a Speak Now or Midnights girlie, there’s absolutely a WNFC team that’s perfect for you.

DEBUT/SELF-TITLED -  THE TENNESSEE TROJANS

Swift’s debut album, Taylor Swift, is known for romantic, country-style songs - that’s why we’ve given this one to the Tennessee Trojans. Based out of Nashville, Tennessee, the Trojans are part of the WNFC’s Atlantic Division and joined as one of the league’s newer teams in 2023. The Trojans will be hosting this year’s Eastern Conference Playoffs from June 5th-7th in Nashville for the first time, closing out the 2025 season with a record of two wins and four losses.

FEARLESS - LA LEGENDS

Taylor’s golden blonde hair on the Fearless cover is a staple of her early days, so we had to pick none other than the Los Angeles Legends for our Fearless fans. With their gold, white, and black uniform colorways, the LA Legends shine on the field, fearless in their pursuit of a W. The LA Legends joined the WNFC in 2022 as part of the Pacific Division and are currently 3-3 in the 2025 season.

SPEAK NOW - ATLANTA TRUTH

Speak Now, characterized by the album cover of Taylor Swift twirling in a beautiful purple dress, can only remind you of the Atlanta Truth and their vibrant purple and pink uniforms. As one of the newest WNFC teams, the Atlanta Truth kicked off its inaugural season in 2025 as part of the Atlantic Division, based in Atlanta, Georgia. Just like Speak Now, the Truth are spunky and fun and would be a great team to root for as a Speak Now fan.

RED - HOUSTON MAMBAS & SAN DIEGO REBELLION

For Red fans, we chose the Houston Mambas and the San Diego Rebellion - and their bright red jerseys and gear colorways make it clear as to why. As T-Swift once said, everything is red!

Undefeated 6-0 in their division, the San Diego Rebellion, based out of San Diego, CA, were the 2025 Pacific Division Champions and a founding team of the WNFC in 2018. Their lively red, white, and blue colorway reflects the liveliness that the team plays with, taking them through to the end of the season with no losses and excitement for the upcoming conference playoffs.

The Houston Mambas, based in Houston, Texas, are a relatively new team to the WNFC as of 2022. As part of the Central Division, the Mambas show up high-spirited and lively in their bold and intense red, black, and blue uniforms. The Mambas closed out their 2025 season 0-6 and are already eyeing a comeback in 2026.

1989 - JERSEY SHORE WAVE & CHICAGO WINDS

This one’s for our city girls - for an album that starts with Welcome to New York, we chose two teams that represent the hustle and bustle of the places they’re from. 1989 is about rebirth, change, and new endeavors, such as moving to a big city, so we chose two of the WNFC’s brand-new teams from energetic hometowns.

The Jersey Shore Wave is based in Paterson, New Jersey, just 45 minutes from New York City itself. Alongside the Atlanta Truth, the Wave also began play in 2025 as one of the WNFC’s newest teams. As one of New Jersey’s remaining professional sports teams not shared with New York, the Jersey Shore Wave represents the strong and energetic ocean and charismatic energy of bustling New Jersey. The Wave closed out their 2025 season with a 2-4 record.

The Chicago Winds, based out of Chicago, Illinois, and aptly named after the ‘Windy City,’ also kicked off for the first time in 2025. With a logo and colors picked to represent the dynamic and vibrant energy of Chicago itself, 1989 fans are sure to enjoy Chicago’s mission of representing the deep roots of women’s football in the city while playing hard in their first season. As part of the Atlantic Division, the Chicago Winds have gone 5-1 in their inaugural season, ranking them second.

REPUTATION - OREGON RAVENS & MISSISSIPPI PANTHERS

Reputation has been on Swiftie’s mind lately, as before Taylor repurchased her master record rights from Shamrock Capital on May 30th, 2025, it was the next album she was set to record in “Taylor's Version.”  For the Reputation fans, we picked two teams that fit the vibes, energy, and aesthetic of one of Taylor’s most ground-breaking albums.

The Oregon Ravens, hosts of the 2025 Pacific Conference Playoffs, are one of the original WNFC teams, dating back to 2019, and have been playing in Milwaukie, Oregon, ever since. With their sleek and strict black and silver logo and jerseys, the Ravens perfectly fit the Reputation aesthetics.

The Mississippi Panthers, the 2024 IX Championship Winners (named after Title IX, fun fact!), are another group with sleek black and baby blue uniforms that say we’re here to win. The Mississippi Panthers began WNFC play in Jackson, Mississippi, during the 2020 season (despite the season being impacted by COVID-19 restrictions) and have advanced to the IX Championship game in both 2023 and 2024, with one win and one loss against the Texas Elite Spartans. The Panthers are an intense and successful team, making them a perfect fit for Reputation fans.

LOVER - KANSAS CITY GLORY & WASHINGTON PRODIGY

The Kansas City Glory are certainly lovers - they’ve gone viral most recently after linebacker Anastasia “Nana” Olavuo invited a young girl to watch their game in person after being told she couldn’t play football by a boy at school. As one of the inaugural 2019 WNFC teams, the Kansas City Glory has brought a fresh and impactful look to the positive effects of the WNFC this year and has earned its spot as a team for the Lover girls. They are part of the Central Division and are currently ending their 2025 regular season with a 4-2 record.

The Washington Prodigy have also earned their spots as Lover girls - it’s hard not to love them. The Prodigy joined the WNFC’s Atlantic Division in 2020 but has been playing with a mission of building a highly visible women’s tackle football program by veteran women football players and coaches since 2012. They are ending their 2025 regular season as the Atlantic Division champions, having gone undefeated in division play. It’s hard not to love an undefeated team!

FOLKLORE/EVERMORE - TEXAS ELITE SPARTANS & DENVER BANDITS

Cowboy Like Me is a popular track from Taylor Swift’s Folklore/Evermore era that talks about the love story of two con artists - so who could be more perfect than the Texas Elite Spartans and Denver Bandits?

From a state heavily influenced by cowboy culture, the Texas Elite Spartans are perhaps one of the most successful WNFC teams to date, having appeared in all five WNFC IX Championship Games since 2019, with the only loss coming in the 2024 season to the Mississippi Panthers. As one of the original teams from 2019, the Texas Elite Spartans have demonstrated dominance in the WNFC and currently stand 5-1 at the top of the Central Division. They do say everything’s bigger in Texas - including the grit and intensity of the Texas Elite Spartans.

Cowboy Like Me is an open-ended love story between con artists, so the Denver “Bandits” seemed like a good fit for Folklore/Evermore fans as well. As another one of the original 2019 teams, the Bandits have been playing in Aurora, Colorado, as part of the Central Division ever since. They’re fashionable, tough, and fun to watch and would be a perfect fit for any Folklore/Evermore Swiftie. The Bandits are finishing their 2025 regular season with a 1-5 record.

MIDNIGHTS - SEATTLE MAJESTICS & UTAH FALCONZ

It’s hard not to think of the color blue when you think of Midnights, so we’ve picked two teams with stunning blue uniforms for our Midnights fans.
The Seattle Majestics, based in Seattle, Washington, have been competing in the WNFC since the inaugural season in 2019 and are concluding their 2025 season second in the Pacific Division with a 4-2 record. With dark midnight-blue and green uniforms reminiscent of their NFL counterparts, the Majestics are a great team for any Midnights fan to follow.

Although a different tone of blue than the Majestics, the Utah Falconz also rock a blue uniform that Midnight's fans are sure to love. The Falconz are also part of the Pacific Division, and have been playing in the WNFC since 2019. In a state big on college football but without a history of an NFL team, Utah Swifites can turn to the Falconz as their home-state professional team. The Falconz are closing their 2025 season with a record of 2-4.

THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT - FLORIDA AVENGERS & LV SILVER STARS

Since Florida!!! is the name of a track featuring Florence and the Machine on TTPD; we had to give the TTPD fans the Florida Avengers as one of their teams to root for. The Avengers were a 2020 addition to the WNFC and play in Jacksonville, Florida. Next time you visit Florida, you’ll have to go see an Avengers game and listen to Florida!!! while you’re there. The Avengers ended 1-5 in the 2025 regular season.

The Las Vegas Silver Stars are another great team to root for if you’re a TTPD fan, as their grey uniforms (with hints of red) are reminiscent of the monochromatic grey TTPD album cover. The Silver Stars are an inaugural WNFC team, having played in Las Vegas since 2019 in the Pacific Division. The Silver Stars are ending their 2025 regular season with a 2-4 record.

While Eras Tour and the WNFC’s regular season might be winding down, the excitement surrounding women’s football is just getting started. Whether you’re a Lover girl or a Fearless fan, your new favorite WNFC team is waiting for you on the field. From June 5th-7th, the Eastern and Western Conference Playoffs will kick off in Nashville and Oregon, respectively. The IX Championship weekend will return to Texas from June 20th-22nd, where the sixth-ever WNFC champions will write their names in history. Will it be your new team?
